Maintenance And Upkeep Of Tunnel Drilling Rigs

Routine maintenance of tunnel drilling rigs includes inspecting all components and connecting pins; regularly checking the power head, hydraulic cylinders, drill bits, and drill rods; ensuring the winch drum is level on both sides; and checking the status of the electrical system's leakage protection devices and emergency power-off switches.

Maintenance of tracked fully hydraulic tunnel drilling rigs mainly involves proper daily operation and periodic inspections, which can be divided into daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance. Daily maintenance includes cleaning the external surface of the tunnel drilling rig and paying attention to the cleanliness of the base slide rails, vertical shaft, and other surfaces.

If equipment malfunctions, the inspection and repair methods include separating the motor housing from the gearbox and inspecting the internal parts for wear and pitting; disassembling the reversing valve to inspect the valve core and body for wear; and disconnecting the feed reversing valve from the propulsion cylinder connection and inspecting and replacing components such as seals, gaskets, and support rings.

During operation, it is important to note that the power head of the drilling rig must not be reversed during drilling. Reversal is only permitted after the drill rod has been disassembled and the hydraulic clamp has secured it. At the same time, attention must be paid to the temperature rise of each moving part. The temperature of bearings, oil pumps, motors, electric motors, etc., must not exceed 60°C, and the oil temperature must not exceed 50°C.
