Definition And Overview Of Tunnel Drilling Rigs

A rock drilling rig is a device that mounts one or more rock drills, along with their propellers, onto a specially designed drill arm and a chassis for rock drilling operations.

It is a modern construction machine developed from handheld rock drills and towed chassis. To fully utilize the rig's capabilities, high-efficiency impactors or rock drills are typically selected, along with high-thrust propellers and high-torque slewing mechanisms to increase drilling speed and effectively prevent drill bit jamming.

Rock drilling rigs can not only drill blast holes but, depending on the cross-sectional size, can also be used to drill anchor bolt holes. Currently, rock drilling rigs are widely used in highway, railway, water conservancy, mining, and national defense engineering construction, and are essential mechanical equipment in underground engineering, mining, highway tunnel, and railway tunnel construction.
